Tenet Healthcare Corporation Implements Instant Advice™ to Drive Large-Scale Leadership Skill Retention

Tenet Healthcare wanted to ensure that their busy health care workers had an efficient way to learn critical leadership skills. With thousands of employees in multiple locations, finding the right tool to facilitate that goal was critical.


Health care depends on teamwork and the leadership skills of department directors, managers, and clinical professionals. Critical skills, such as having difficult conversations, managing change, and solving interpersonal issues, create a dynamic culture where employees grow, develop, and enhance organizational performance. Tenet’s Learning and Development leaders needed to deliver this learning to approximately 5,000 frontline leaders.


Tenet chose PDI Ninth House’s Instant Advice™ e-learning modules. Instant Advice comprises more than 450 web-based videos that provide immediate, actionable solutions to frequently encountered business challenges. Tenet carefully chose modules that would align with their Foundations of Leadership Program. 


In the first year, there were more than 21,000 hits on Instant Advice. Tenet tracked the most popular modules, getting a sense of which development areas their managers were most interested in or concerned about. In part, Tenet credits a significant decrease in turnover and impact on retention to the role Instant Advice plays in their Foundation of Leadership program.
