Qualcomm needed a blended learning program that would engage their highly technically advanced leaders, scale across multiple geographies, and create a world-class experience for learners.
A large proportion of Qualcomm’s success hinges on its technical talent. Their L&D leadership team saw a need to ensure that Qualcomm’s individual contributors, who lead teams but do not have direct reports, acquired the leadership skills they needed.
PDI Ninth House designed an Emerging Leader Program for Qualcomm. This custom blended learning program focused on developing skills tied to seven competencies within a framework of Self-management, Partnering, and Execution, which Qualcomm had identified as vital to this talent pool.
The program has been successful in the U.S. and is being rolled out to emerging leaders in Asia, Europe, and India. A strong focus on leadership development through the Emerging Leaders Program also contributed to Qualcomm’s winning of the Bersin & Associates’ 2010 Learning Leaders Program award in Leadership Development Excellence.
